R.A.K Journal

By date:
9/15: "Peej" (Patrick) Helped hand out math sheets that were left for people to pick up on their own.
9/15: Sam helped new girl with math homework during Eagle Block.
9/15: Lengthy phone conversation about "life" with a friend. This made me feel very good that I was being helpful and supportive of someone else when they needed me.
9/16: Another long phone conversation with a friend about social ideas, again, glad I could help.
9/16: Helped explain foot ball to cheerleaders in the rain, I was nice about it.
9/16: My little sister helped a sixth grader find the temple bus. Its very confusing over at the middle school. kids EVERYWHERE!
(9/17-19, not very happy times, or I lost my journal)
9/20: Raina and Rachael opened door for charms student locked out side.
9/20: Julia rushed across the room to pick up a dropped water bottle, very nice.
9/20: Helped other Julia with chemistry trivia questions for extra credit. It was on some REALLY random stuff that of course only I would know. Whats the main metal in light bulbs? Wolframite (oh Germany!), or commonly known as Tungsten...
9/20: Perry gave Sammy Kaps and myself a ride home from XC.
9/21: Mr.S grabbed a text book for a class mate so she could follow along with the class discussion.
9/21: "Lazerface" helped Mrs. S with laptop and smart board set up. Ultimately failing, but applying his unique skills to help the whole class. Nice job Lazerface.
9/22: "Scribbles" bought doughnuts for the XC runners, regardless of who placed first.
9/22: Made cookies for the family, why? cause who doesn't like cookies? My family really appreciated the cookies because I don't usually bake during the week, also because no one else can bake in my family.
9/22: Formed a "symbiotic study relationship" with Steph. Just got the results back from our first test, needless to say, we did phenomenal. (I had the ideas, she had the facts)
9/23: Liza gave some really heart felt complements to our U.S. class. Apparently I am an "?extremely pretty" person. Love her.
9/23: Jordan helped answer history questions of a new student in our class.
9/23: In an act of divine fate, Joey save Hayley and myself from having to walk 2+ miles home. After XC practise.
9/24: Jen helped get my back pack unstuck from under a desk.
9/24: Held the door for an "older couple" whist going into Bass pro. My friends were already in the door and on to the attractions of the store, (there are A LOT of attractions, or should I say distractions) the man smiled really wide and his wife thanked me. They were glad to see that "young people" were still polite.
9/24: Helped a patron find a bank in patriots place.
9/25: Steph complemented me on my shirt. I was elated because I love that shirt.
9/25: Listened to the "grievances" of a close friend. Some times the best thing you can do is just to listen. She was a lot happier after it was all out.
9/26: Helped Dad paint the deck, almost done, then the rain... It was fun working with him though.
9/26: A man at the movies returned my tickets after seeing me drop them and walk away without noticing. It was probably the best act of kindness on this list because he really saved the day for me. Without him, the night would have been "hawkward". (not funny? its OK, everything is OK)

After observing all of these random acts of kindness I'm not sure if its safe to say that the world is full of love. I am proud to say that while looking for random acts, and secretly looking for malice, I noticed that there is significantly more nice things going on than bad. Not to say that people aren't doing bad things. Pessimism, in my opinion, forms from the bad acts. Though not as numerous, we dwell on these malicious acts, they eat away at us. By acknowledging the good things going on, we can reverse our pessimism. Happiness can be obtained, you just have to look for it.
